My story
I was introduced to photography at a young age by my father, who tried to convince his kids to share his passion for wildlife photography. Struggling with light meters, focus rings and the like, it never took hold. I was reintroduced to photography by my daughter, who by the way is responsible for some of the best photos on this website. (The rest are mine). I have come to appreciate photography equipment producing photos that would have been impossible years ago. As much as I enjoy seeing nature in the form of a photo, I also enjoy "the hunt," which includes looking for wildlife anywhere from our backyard to halfway around the world watching an orangutan.
What happens when you buy a photo.
Photography is a passion for me. Because I enjoy sharing photos with others, I am marketing my photography by donating all funds received from the "sale" of my photos to charity.
The concept is simple. You can donate directly to one of the charities listed below by going to the group's website or sending the money through PayPal. Just send me an email telling me which charity you selected and how much you donated. I will then send you the digital copy of the photo by email. Although you are free to donate any amount you wish, we ask that you donate a minimum of $25 per photo. Because all donations are subject to the rules and programs of each charity, all questions or comments about their programs, including any requests for a refund, must be directed to the charity.
Foggyglen Photography does not print or frame photos. You will receive a digital copy of the photo by email. If you want professional printing or framing, you can contact any of the available professionals who perform that service. Just tell me whether to send the digital copy of the photo to them directly or to you. Several of the well-known companies who perform framing service are reviewed in the Spruce at the following website: https://www.thespruce.com/best-online-framing-services-5072584
A word about copyright. All photos on this site are subject to copyright, which belongs to Foggyglen Photography. The sale of a photo and delivery of a copy to the buyer does not transfer the copyright to the photo.
Help the hostages by donating to IsraAid
Those taken hostage in Israel in the Gaza conflict desparately need help. Freeing them from terrorist kidnappers is only the beginning of their ordeal. Countless indefensible families, including women and children, have been subject to inhumane treatment requiring attention. While there are many charities involved in providing support, IsraAid appears to be among those involved in providing support directly to those impacted.
IsraAid spends a small percentage of its donation dollars on overhead and administrative costs, and has a track record of making a difference in disasters. the organization can be contacted at ISRAAID.ORG, P.O. Box, 61227, Palo Alto CA 94306-6227, calling 650-930-9515, or on its website: https://www.israaid.org/.
Donate to the Stroke Foundation in memory of Doug Wester
Having recently lost a good friend, Doug Wester, to a massive stroke, the dangers of strokes have become all too real to me. It should not have taken the loss of a friend to understand just how serious a problem is posed by strokes. According to publicly available information, approximately 800,000 people per year in the U.S. alone suffer a stroke.
A natural charity to deal with strokes is the Stroke Foundation. Run by volunteers, the organization focuses, among other things, on educating families and others on how they can minimize the debilitating effects of a stroke. To learn more about the Stroke Foundation, go to https://thestrokefoundation.org/home/about-us/our-story/.
Donate to Planet Aid and contribute to projects in underdeveloped communities around the world
Another charity you might want to consider is Planet Aid, to which I have been connected for several years. Planet Aid describes it mission as "to inform, mobilize, and inspire individuals and communities to work together to bring about worldwide environmental and social progress." That's a pretty hefty goal, but Planet Aid's dedicated staff, working with others around the world, does exactly that. It maintains a textile recycling program which supports worthy projects and in doing so helps to protect the environment, reduce waste, and increase the efficient use of vital resources.
Planet Aid can be reached at 6730 Santa Barbara Court, Elkridge, Maryland 21075, or through its website, https://www.planetaid.org/
Donate to World Resources Institute to ensure the planet can sustain wildlife for future generations
Having come to enjoy the wildlife you see in photos on this website, it is important to me that I ensure that wildlife continues to flourish. Much has been written about climate change and the dangers of global warming. I'm glad to use this website to generate support for ensuring that it continues.
There are many fine organizations dedicated to climate change issues, but one appears especially deserving of support: the Global Resources Institute. The organization can be reached at 110 G Street NE, Suite 800, Washington DC 20002, (202) 729-7600, or through its website, https://www.wri.org/.
Help protect the young by donating to Children's Rights
A group that tackles unjust government systems that harm children, families, and communities is Chidren's Rights. The group prides itself in "exposing systemic flaws and building solutions that will advance children’s rights for generations." It has a strong 28 year history of successes.
The organization can be reached at Children’s Rights
88 Pine Street, Suite 800, New York, NY 10005, or through its website at https://www.childrensrights.org/
Help sustain one of the endangered species in the world through Orangutan Foundation International
Orangutans are quickly disappearing as their native habitat is being cut down to support palm oil. This organization is devoted to rescuing and rehabilitating orangutans and then releasing them back into their native habitat. Seeing first-hand the work that they are doing left a lasting impression and a desire to help sustain this worthy organization. In addition to rescue efforts, the Foundation has worked to protect 1.5 million acres of rainforest needed by orangutans.
The organization can be reached at 824 Wellesley Ave., Los Angeles, Calif., 90049, or through its website: https://www.orangutan.org/
